TFC Silicone Rubber Type 6 Food Grade Apricot Soft Shore 22 1:1

Addition-curing 2-component silicone rubber that vulcanises at room temperature.

The silicone is supplied in high-quality plastic squeeze bottles with a dosing cap.
This makes dispensing very easy and clean.
Precise dosing is effortless, as you will be familiar with from comparable food packaging, for example, and represents a significant improvement on the tin cans or wide-neck bottles that are otherwise common.

The silicone used has been tested for food contact and is certified as safe for food and consumer goods in accordance with Section 5(1)(1) of the Food and Consumer Goods Act.
Consequently, the use of foodstuffs as moulding materials (e.g. chocolate, marzipan, baking mixes, ice cream, etc.) in this form is safe.

Aluminium moulding frame with base plate 20x20cm

Variable aluminium moulding frame, consisting of:

The 4 angle plates can be moved relative to one another in various ways,
so that a variable moulding box can be adapted precisely to the model,

TFC release vaseline

Silicone mould release vaseline is applied thinly to the fully cured silicone mould during mould production, and the freshly mixed silicone for the second mould half is then poured onto it. This prevents the two mould halves from sticking together. The release vaseline is free from harmful substances!

Silicone rubber is an extremely flexible material suitable for many applications.
The following book deals primarily with possible applications in the hobby sector; the many different moulding techniques are described in detail and, in some cases, illustrated.
To ensure that the practical hobbyist understands exactly what material they are dealing with, the practical section is preceded by a theoretical section.
This consists of an overview of the various areas of application for which the material is used, as well as the different types of silicone rubber available on the market today.

General application

To produce silicone moulds, you must first determine what you wish to replicate and what casting material the object will be made of. This is of great importance, as there are different types of silicone with varying degrees of hardness and flexibility. Heat resistance is also an important factor. Please pay attention to the areas of application and the individual product properties of the silicones in the respective descriptions.

Once you have selected the appropriate silicone, the following materials should be prepared: moulding frame, modelling clay, object to be moulded, pouring container, wooden spoon (or similar), scales, separating vaseline, brush and a knife. Due to the short processing times, place these within easy reach right at the start. The moulding frame should then be positioned so that there is at least 2 cm of space between the frame and the object. To seal the mould, roll out a layer of non-hardening modelling clay (e.g. plasticine) onto the base plate; any remaining gaps in the corners must also be sealed. The object can then be brushed with separating vaseline and pressed into the clay at the base to secure it.

Next, the selected silicone is mixed in the ratio specified by the manufacturer (usually 1:1 by weight). Using a set of scales, the base (A) and the catalyst (B) can then be mixed in the specified ratio. Both components are then thoroughly mixed together for approx. 1 minute to form a homogeneous mass. The silicone is then poured evenly into the prepared moulding frame.

The final step is curing. Here, the silicone must cure completely within the time specified by the manufacturer, usually at 23°C. Once fully cured, the frame and the modelling clay can be removed. With a soft silicone, the object being moulded can be easily removed from the mould. If a medium-hard silicone has been chosen, it may be necessary to cut it with a knife. The resulting gap can be sealed with rubber during the subsequent casting process. The cured silicone mould can now be filled with various casting materials. These vary depending on the type of silicone rubber selected. Examples include ceramics, plaster, concrete, tin, foodstuffs, etc.
