Description

Polymaker PolyDissolve S2

Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 is a soluble support material for various 3D printing filaments that are not normally compatible with standard PVA (polyvinyl alcohol). PolyDissolve S2 is compatible with, amongst others, ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer), ASA (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate copolymer) and PC (polycarbonate). The printing temperature of these plastics is too high for standard water-soluble support materials. For this purpose, Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 is the ideal solution. The component printed in dual-extrusion mode can simply be dissolved in an alkaline solution after printing. For this, the Chinese manufacturer of high-quality 3D printing materials offers the suitable "3DWash Solute". The powder creates a cleaning solution that washes out the printed support material in no time at all. The manufacturer also recommends using a heating element in combination with the filament and the Solute powder to heat the solution and thereby start the process. The heating element is not included and must be purchased separately.

Advantages of Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 Filament

  • Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 is compatible with a wide range of filaments, including ABS, ASA and TPU. Common soluble support materials cannot be printed with these filaments. This enables Polydissolve S2 to print complex geometries in engineering-grade materials.
  • With the help of 3DWash Solute, the material can be easily dissolved in a lye solution. To do this, the water bath must be heated. We also recommend stirring the water bath using a pump or other mixing device.
  • Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 can withstand the stresses of a heated print chamber. This means that this support material can also be used on industrial 3D printers such as the Intamsys Pro 410 and the Minifactory Ultra.

Applications of Polymaker Polydissolve S2 filament

Polymaker PolyDissolve S2 is suitable for industrial users who wish to print engineering materials with complex geometries. Functional prototypes are often produced here, which are later manufactured in series using injection moulding but must first be tested using additive manufacturing. Examples include housing covers, brackets and fixtures, as well as ventilation ducts.

Notes:

  • Please always wear adequate protective equipment when working with the PolyDissolve solution or the 3DWash powder. This should include gloves and safety goggles.
  • The solution must be heated to 70°C during post-processing. A certain amount of water may evaporate during this process. Please ensure there is always sufficient water in your container so that the pH value remains constant at 10.5.
  • The mixing ratio of 1:40 must be maintained at all times. For every 100g of printed PolyDissolve filament, use 100g of 3DWash Solute powder and 4 litres of water. This produces a 2.5% Solute concentrate.
  • Please observe local regulations regarding the disposal of alkaline solutions. The solution may need to be neutralised. 20–40 g of citric acid is sufficient to bring 4 litres of the solution back to a pH of 7–8.
