Description

The PET-CF17 filament, a carbon fibre-reinforced PET from the Fiberon catalogue, is an advanced composite material, known for its high modulus, heat resistance and dimensional stability, making it ideal for demanding engineering applications. Specially developed for rapid prototyping and functional parts, this filament retains impressive strength and excellent surface quality thanks to the addition of 17% high-quality carbon fibres. The moisture resistance of PET-CF17 enhances its reliability and ensures consistent quality with minimal post-processing for complex applications.

The PET-CF17 filament combines advanced properties with user-friendly printing characteristics, including low creep and compatibility with high-speed printing up to 300 mm/s. The filament does not require an actively heated chamber, enabling reliable results at room temperature. It is ideal for 3D printers designed for the extrusion of composite materials, such as the Raise3D E2CF or the Bambu Lab X1C, and also supports multi-material systems such as the AMS module from Bambu Lab. For a longer service life and consistent print quality, an abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended.

To improve the thermal and mechanical properties, PET-CF17 parts should undergo a annealing process at 120 ºC for 10 hours. This process requires careful handling to prevent warping. Guidelines include waiting 24 hours after printing (or drying at 80 ºC for 2 hours) to relieve internal stresses, ensuring uniform temperatures in the oven, and adding supports (PolySupport for PA12) for parts with overhangs, thin walls or bridge structures. For optimal results, parts should be placed in the oven in the same orientation as during printing, ideally directly on the build plate, to ensure precise dimensions and long-term stability.
