Addition-curing 2-component silicone rubber that vulcanises at room temperature
TFC Silicone Rubber Type 15 is very well suited for the production of sophisticated,
elastic and durable moulds with pronounced undercuts.
With TFC Silicone Rubber Type 15, single- or multi-part moulds can be produced,
for casting original models made of wood, glass, metal, plastic, wax or ceramic casting compounds.
You can use all water-soluble casting materials in the moulds produced, such as
relief casting compounds like Stewalin, Plastalin Super, Keraflott or plaster, Keramin, Alabit, modelling and model-making plaster, casting clay, cement, concrete, etc.
Soap casting compounds (soap glycerine) for making your own soap
or waxes for making candles can be used without any problems, as can casting with casting resins (resin).
Due to the high translucency and Shore hardness of the cured silicone, it is perfectly possible to cut the mould very close to the original object.
To ensure a bubble-free and therefore translucent result, it is recommended to degas the mixture using a vacuum device before casting.

General Application
To produce silicone moulds, you must first determine what you wish to replicate and what casting material the object will be made of. This is of great importance, as there are different types of silicone with varying degrees of hardness and flexibility. Heat resistance is also an important factor. Please pay attention to the areas of application and the individual product properties of the silicones in the respective descriptions.
Once you have selected the appropriate silicone, the following materials should be prepared: moulding frame, modelling clay, object to be moulded, pouring container, wooden spoon (or similar), scales, separating vaseline, brush and a knife. Due to the short processing times, place these within easy reach right at the start. The moulding frame should then be positioned so that there is at least 2 cm of space between the frame and the object. To seal the mould, roll out a layer of non-hardening modelling clay (e.g. plasticine) onto the base plate; any remaining gaps in the corners must also be sealed. The object can then be brushed with separating vaseline and pressed into the clay at the base to secure it.
Next, the selected silicone is mixed in the ratio specified by the manufacturer (usually 1:1 by weight). Using a set of scales, you can then mix the base (A) and the catalyst (B) in the specified mixing ratio. Both components are then thoroughly mixed together for approx. 1 minute to form a homogeneous mass. The silicone is then poured evenly into the prepared moulding frame.
The final step is curing. Here, the silicone must cure completely within the time specified by the manufacturer, usually at 23°C. Once fully cured, the frame and the modelling clay can be removed. With a soft silicone, the object being moulded can be easily removed from the mould. If a medium-hard silicone has been chosen, it may be necessary to cut it open with a knife. The resulting gap can be sealed with a rubber band during subsequent casting. The cured silicone mould can now be filled with various casting materials. These vary depending on the type of silicone rubber selected. Examples include ceramics, plaster, concrete, tin, foodstuffs, etc.
